What is Rehab Care?

  • A branch of rehabilitative health that uses specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients regain or improve their physical abilities.
  • Rehab Therapy is appropriate for many types of patients, from infants born with musculoskeletal birth defects, to adults suffering from sciatica or the after effects of injury or surgery, to elderly poststroke patients.

Rehab Care is a type of treatment you may need when health problems make it hard to move around and do everyday tasks. It helps you move better and may relieve pain. It also helps improve or restore your physical function and your fitness level.

The goal of Rehab Care is to make daily tasks and activities easier. For example, it may help with walking, going up stairs, or getting in and out of bed.

Our Treatment Approach

Our licensed practitioners work closely with our back and spine specialists to design and implement the most appropriate treatment plan for you. The main goal of care can be to assist in the pain free, or reduced pain, motion of your muscles, tendons and joints to better improve your strength, coordination and flexibility. Most treatment plans include

a combination of therapy approaches, including:

  • Electrical muscle stimulation to help relax tight muscles and decrease pain
  • Ice packs to help decrease inflammation, pain and muscle spasms
  • Moist heat to improve circulation to the area and support the healing of aching muscles
  • Stretching exercises specifically designed for you
  • Full body exercises/therapy pre and post-op
  • Traction
  • Adjustments
  • Manual therapy/soft tissue work
  • Kinesio taping
  • Ultra sound

Rehab Care can help with recovery after some surgeries. Your doctor may suggest Rehab Therapy for injuries or long-term health problems such as arthritis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Rehab Care may be used alone or with other treatments.
